Taylor Swift Private Jet Drama! so, what happened ?

Taylor Swift’s attorneys claimed that Jack Sweeney’s following of her jet amounted  to “stalking” after she recently won the Grammy Award.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift has threatened Jack Sweeney, a 21-year-old college student who keeps note of every trip she takes, with legal action. Sweeney, an IT major, tracks the ultra-wealthy, such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, using more than thirty bot accounts.

Elon Musk reacts:

The singer’s lawyers served Sweeney with a cease-and-desist notice in December, pointing out that the surveillance of her flights amounted to “stalking” and requesting that he cease disclosing the position of Swift’s private jet.

In response, Elon Musk declared that Sweeney is a “awful human being” and that Swift has the “right to be concerned”.

Musk had suspended Jack Sweeney’s X accounts, but he responded sharply to the X boss from his new account.

“Recall that you gave me $5,000 to cease. And here we are a year later, having threatened to sue me,” he said to Musk.

Musk had offered him $5,000 to quit tracking his jet, but he had responded with a $50,000 payment or an internship. Subsequently, Sweeney indicated that if Musk was allowed to board his private jet, he would cease his tracking. Swift faced criticism in 2022 for using airplanes frequently, which increased carbon emissions.

In light of the climate catastrophe, she topped the list of celebrities with the greatest jet emissions, according to information  released by the British sustainability marketing company Yard.

Celebrities who were the “worst private jet CO2 emission offenders” were identified by the agency and chastised. According to Yard, Taylor Swift’s jet made 170 flights between January and July 2022, accounting for 8,293.54 tons of emissions  in total—1,184.8 times higher than the average person.

Taylor Swift Sells one of her private jet : privacy or backlash?

The musical sensation has come under fire for allegedly threatening to sue Jack Sweeney, the student who uses data that is accessible to the public to  track private jets.

One of Taylor Swift’s two private planes is said to have been sold. The pop artist faced criticism on social media after Jack Sweeney, a  21-year-old who gained notoriety for stalking the affluent and famous, disclosed information about her use of private jets to the general public. When word got out that Swift, 34, had taken one of her own jets for a 13-minute flight from one area of St. Louis to another, the reaction started.

Opponents cited the excessive environmental expense associated with a 13-minute flight for a distance that a car could easily cover in 30 minutes.

For years, the pop icon has faced criticism to reduce her carbon footprint. As Elon Musk had done before her, she responded by threatening to sue  Sweeney. In fact, after Sweeney, a 21-year-old student, persisted in tracking the Tesla billionaire’s private jet using publicly available data, Musk had Sweeney’s account banned from his  social networking site X.

Swift reportedly sold the smaller of her two private planes, according to recent reports. The confirmation that Swift’s Dassault Falcon 900 is no longer registered in her name can be found on the Federal Aviation Authority website. The Daily Mail claims that on January 30, Taylor Swift sold the aircraft to Car Shield, a Missouri-based auto insurance provider. Although she paid $40 million for the Dassault Falcon 900LX when she bought it, the plane is currently only worth $7 million used.

Swift’s legal team sends a cease-and-desist letter to Jack Sweeney, a 21-year-old junior at the University of Central Florida studying information technology and keeping tabs on celebrities’ use of private jets.

The college student has been posting real-time updates on Swift’s travels for months using Federal Aviation Administration public flight tracking  data. He has created such accounts to monitor the flight patterns of Kim Kardashian, Elon Musk, and other well-known individuals. (At one point, Musk even banned him from X, the former Twitter.)

After Instagram deletes Sweeney’s @taylorswiftjets account, the social media giant notifies him that the account violated its privacy policies. Additionally disabled is a Facebook account devoted to the same stuff.

Swift discreetly sells the Dassault Falcon 900, one of her private aircraft, as per a notice on the website of the Federal Aviation Authority. She now only owns one aircraft, a Dassault 7X.

Swift purchased the Falcon aircraft in 2009; it was formerly registered under SATA LLC, a Nashville-based business using the same address as Taylor Swift Productions. It is currently registered to a Missouri corporation.

According to Business Insider, Swift retained the jet, which can accommodate up to 16 people and is better suited for longer flights, whereas the Dassault  Falcon 900 is somewhat smaller and intended for shorter hops.

what now?

With her record-breaking Eras Tour, which saw her tour the whole United States in 2023 and is currently making its way around the globe, Taylor Swift has successfully stimulated the economy. But when it comes to jet-setting, the Grammy winner (who also set a record) has come under fire for being the worst celebrity offender when it comes to CO2 emissions from her private aircraft.

Even an Instagram account tracking Swift’s use of a private jet was maintained by college student Jack Sweeney. However, the account was shut down after Swift’s attorneys sent a cease-and-desist letter, allegedly because it presented a safety risk by providing real-time updates on the plane’s location.

Now that the entire letter has been made public online as of February 6, you may be asking, “What exactly is all the drama about?” as Swift gets ready to perform in Tokyo (and possibly return to the US to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce play in the Super Bowl). Below is a breakdown of it.
