True fans of Zendaya will remember the actress’s chainmail Versace gown, which was inspired by Joan of Arc and worn to the 2018 Met Gala. With all sincerity, let me say this: that day altered lives! And now, Zendaya is transforming lives one more with the global premiere of Dune: Part Two. The actor, who won an Emmy, arrived on the sand-covered red carpet donning actual metal body armor. What about nude armor instead of a nude dress?
This amazing antique outfit is from Mugler’s Fall/Winter 1995 couture collection. It has a chrome suit of armor with clear panels woven throughout the back, arms, chest, and legs (yes, there’s even a cheeky peek at the rear end). Zendaya, being Zendaya, accessorized the ensemble with matching metallic stiletto platform shoes by Mugler and a stunning diamond necklace featuring a huge blue gemstone set in the center.
The star’s stylist, Law Roach, affectionately referred to her armored ensemble as “method dressing,” and it’s only the most recent in a long series of Dune press tour ensembles. In a recent interview with Bazaar, Roach described one of Zendaya’s first significant looks from Dune as “method dressing,” much of like “method acting.” The outfit was a dystopian-style gown with wide swathes of multicolored cloth wrapped around sculptural circular shapes. Torishéju Dumi, an independent designer, is the creator of the dress.
“I just kept it in the back of my mind when I saw it after the designer showed it in Paris,” Roach said. “I attempted to alter it slightly, and as you can see, the skirt has undergone some changes from its runway appearance.”
At Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” world premiere on Thursday in London, Zendaya looked like she was living out of a science fiction novel. Wearing the robot outfit created by Thierry Mugler for his fall 1995 collection, the actress made a futuristic statement.
Together with artist Jean-Jacques Urcun, who invented innovative methods to realize the designer’s concept, Mugler produced his robot suit. The suit’s chrome frame is decorated with plexiglass cutouts.
The robot suit, which took six months to complete, made its runway debut in 1995 during Mugler’s 25th anniversary show in Paris. It was modeled after Futura, a figure from Thea von Harbou’s 1925 novel “Metropolis.”
The robot suit was on display in 2022 in New York City as part of the “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime” exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. Beyoncé wore a customized version of the garment designed by Casey Cadwallader on her June 2023 “Renaissance World Tour.”
During a photo call in London on Wednesday, Zendaya appeared with the rest of the actors of “Dune: Part Two,” donning a deep purple suit from Roksanda’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection. The primary character Chani in “Dune: Part Two,” starring Zendaya, is scheduled to debut on March 1. Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, and Anya Taylor-Joy are also among the cast of the movie. Chalamet donned metallic Haider Ackermann slacks for the international premiere, while Pugh matched the futuristic look with a Valentino sequined hoodie.

Florence Pugh has been touring as part of the Dune: Part Two publicity tour. She has so far honored her character, Princess Irulan, with fanciful regal ensembles that range from an ivory dress with elaborate ruching to a mirrored mesh skirt set. The actor looked stunning in a hooded gown adorned with shimmering russet brown sequins at the film’s world premiere in London today. Given Pugh’s close and enduring association with the fashion business, it is not entirely unexpected that she opted to wear a garment designed by the house of Valentino. Pugh always looks amazing on the red carpet in Valentino, and this night is no exception with the dress’s beautifully designed draped hood that falls into a plunging neckline, low-back silhouette, and melting train that trails behind her.
Pugh accessorized her pixie cut with a metallic silver manicure and cuffs adorned with diamonds, one for each wrist, to create an exquisite wavy style.
Pugh discussed her role and the distinctions between the film adaptation and the original Frank Herbert novels that served as the inspiration for the films in a recent interview with Screen Rant. “I liked how she wasn’t just completely present; you wanted to know more about her, and how she did change throughout the story,” she said to the publication. “She becomes more of an essence.” “In my opinion, aside from the fact that every book you read contains more detail than a screenplay can, I liked that I could see her in both the book’s pages and the script written by [writer-director] Denis Villeneuve.”
